I get this when the access rights on /dev/ttyUSB* gets screwed up (even
though I preset them with proper rights), because they get created when
the hot-sync button is pressed.
So, you might want to check 1) which /dev/ttyUSB* is getting created at
the time of hotsync? and 2) its permission bits.
Which version of gnome-pilot and pilot-link do you have?
