I suspect hotplug is loading the visor driver whenever your device
starts a sync.
Warning: I haven't tried this myself....
On my FC2 system, there's a file:
/lib/modules/2.6.7-1.494.2.2/modules.usbmap
that lists all the usb vendor/product IDs that the visor driver
handles. I suspect you need to comment out the line for your device.
With any luck you won't have to reboot.
