I am having the same sync problem, but with a different system. I am
using Debian Sarge, VIA Apollo KT133A, Thunderbird 1.33, 2.6.8-8
custom kernel. I have created /dev/ttyUSB* on several occasions, but
they disappear regularly. I am not using /dev filesystem because of the
obsolete marking in the xconfig setup. I am using CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS=y
and CONFIG_USB_HIDDEV=y. Pressing the hotsync button on my Clié S300
gives this in log from dmesg
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using address 3
usb 2-2: control timeout on ep0out
usb 2-2: control timeout on ep0out
usb 2-2: device not accepting address 3, error -110
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using address 4
usb 2-2: control timeout on ep0out
usb 2-2: device not accepting address 4, error -84
but no device assigned (/dev/ttyUSB*) to it. I have looked at
documentation, but nothing I have found points to the resolution.
Doing a cat on /proc/bus/usb/devices finds that file locked when I press
the hotsync key so that I can't see any info there either.
Is this a problem with the fact that there are no longer 2 UHCI kernel
modules available?
I have a Microsoft Natural Pro, Logitech marble mouse, Fuji Finepix A340
camera and a PNY thumbdrive that work with no problems.
Any help would be welcome.
