With freebsd you can set the rc.conf string variable `ldconfig_paths' to a
space-seperated list of library paths--man rc.conf(5) for the details. Also
remember the file /etc/ld-elf.so.conf because /etc/ld.so.conf is for aout
libraries only; man ldconfig(8) for the details on that.
