control-center can't find gdkpixbuf

Hello all,

I compiled the gdk-pixbuf-0.10.0 source. Now when compiling
control-center-1.4.0.1 configure can find it but a few lines later it
says that it can't find GdkPixbuf when looking for something like
'gnome-vfs-config'. Have I missed something important here?

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me as I'm new to all
this. The mailing list archives were really helpful but this time they
fail...
