As a new use to Linux I find it's not to bad to setup and wee toys like the

gnome dialer to setup ppp are choice one trap but !

I know it's not a good idea to go online as root so I setup the dialer
under
a user name and bummer ! no permission to use the ppd or dialer and if one
wish's to use the CD-Rom again no permission so we do need to learn some
command line stuff to get going, another wee thought is when I loggin as
root
and the gnome file manager runs with an error saying it's not cool to run
this
program from root, how does one stop this just for the root user without
wading
through a mile of man pages that are written for programmers by the looks.

I have no problem reading doc's but I need to beable to understand what
it's saying

I'll end by saying I'm very very grateful to all the people that have put
so much
into whats turning into a real choice way to use a PC, heel it's choice
being able
to have a desktop with some class thanks heaps

Cheers
Kiwi Pete
