I doubt COAS will be any better .... as long as the print architecture
of GNOMe can handle lp and lpr .... then you can allways use the vendors
setup for printers ....

this is too much system independent, so it will probably run only on linux
or on whatever platfrom someone writes a gnome tool for setting this up :)
