Don't forget the FreeODBC folks. They've implementated an ODBC API and
written drivers for mySQL, PostgreSQL, mSQL, Oracle, DB/2 and Solid.
If they use an appropriate license, it would probably be much easier to
take advantage of their work instead of starting from scratch.
