BadColor error

Ugh.
Scratched up the latest gnome-libs and imlib, and now all my gnome-apps
seem to bomb out with:

I'm baffled about this one. Running Gnome on an 8-bit X display, ZFree
3.1.2 I believe. Anyone got some insight on this?
