I think maybe not gnome.org, but I think gitlab.gnome.org might be fine. Since we refer to the hosting site of where the code lives, that should at least give us some separation from gnome.org.
Alternatively, accept both, and then include a disclaimer somewhere that extensions are not part of GNOME.
The thing is, regardless, we seem to be blamed for any instability of extensions. In a pique, I'd love to just change the shell colors if an extension has been loaded :-) I am joking of course. But perhaps we will never truly get away from the fact that whenever something bad happens with extensions it is GNOME that gets blamed.
