Re: Translation application on GSoC

That's really a great news for gnome translator community!

I have been using kbabel/lokalize, pootle, virtaal and zanata all these years. With reference to these tools, I expect following features to be included in the new Gtranslator:

* Project Manager : A catalogue of files related to particular project. In this,
    - One should be able to search and replace feature with in these set of file (which is actually missing in lokalize).
    - Should show the overall statistics of the project.
    - Able to Fill all exact translations from a Translation Memory to all the files in this project

* Files should be opened in tab view

* It should have good Translation Memory management and Glossary management. Able to upload the community glossary for a particular project. Able to import/export different TM files.

... and so on.  Will go on adding as and when the new features I come across.

I feel it is better to have a wiki page to line up all these features.

All the best!

Shankar

Hello everybody!

Last month I apply to Google Summer of Code with a project about
redesigning and rewriting Gtranslator in Vala. The project has
been accepted! Now I write you to ask for advice and ideas about
what you think this new application should have or don't have.

You can give me ideas about many aspects of the application,
the presence or absence of certain features, how the user interface
should be... If you ever think that your tool should have a
couple of wings and it should be able to fly, this is the time to said
it!

Best regards,
