The thing here is quite simple.

One spelling fix can result in English having the proper string, and
all the other languages having untranslated string (that corrected
English one).  That's what string freeze is about — let's not make two
dozens of unsupported languages (I'm talking about one particular
string being unsupported), for one omission in the English [if it was
not spotted or fixed earlier, it's probably a minor ommision, so it
can wait for next release cycle as well].

It's clearly worth it if you weight it this ("my") way, and I surely
think that spelling omissions are the last we should consider fixing
in the string freeze (actually, I think we should not consider them at
all during the string freeze, unless they introduce a conceptual bug;
which may have led even translators astray, so it needs fixing).
