Actually there hasn't been a big intention "to change the way that 
gnucash is translated" on our side. One of our translators (IIRC Lorenzo 
Cappelletti) suggested using the Translation Project. I read through all 
the instructions and didn't see any exclusion criteria about whether or 
not a project should be handled by the robot. Therefore I simply gave it 
a try.

I agree that having translators working on gnucash at gnome-i18n *and* 
at the Robot will result in additional synchronization overhead. But I 
thought that this will basically require *me* to ensure that our actual 
distribution (on our own cvs server) always includes the very latest 
translations, be it from gnome-i18n or from the Robot. Which is a task 
that I would be willing to handle.

Basically, three choices are possible:

a. Migrate the gnucash translation to the Robot, remove it from 
gnome-i18n, as proposed by Karl
b. Leave it at both gnome-i18n and in the Robot, so that translators can 
choose either way of submission
c. Remove it from the Robot again and continue to maintain the 
translations through gnome-i18n.

Either one of the three choices would be fine for the Gnucash team. We 
have our own project CVS server, so somebody (i.e. me) will have to 
collect translations from different sources anyway. If translators 
consider the Robot an easier way to work such that we should proceed 
with a) as Karl proposed, then that's fine with me. On the other hand, 
if the intention behind the Translation Project is that it's for 
projects which are *not* already maintained in other communities such as 
gnome-i18n, then that's fine with me too and I would ask Karl to remove 
the textual domain gnucash from the Robot again.
