Should be without.... but there is one. And that's the problem.

And this has been solved lately in CVS by Stanislav + Macek, so :-)

msgids can't have chars with 8th bit set, and this one has.
No matter how you write it in source file, "·" or "\xb7", it represents exactly the same char. And it is not possible to translate it.

Well, previously it was in gui.c or parse.c and did eat hunders of translations at all (they were cut down while doing msgfmt -> .gmo file for the install process); the current situation is an improvement or am I wrong here?

Middle dot was always a problem... and still is.

Costumizable middle dot char sounds very well for me, lemme see later on...

BTW, it's the same problem as with copyright sign.

Puhh, what a luck, I didn't introduce this into the msgid's of gtranslator's about dialog :-)

It will not change in GNOME 2 world.

Erhm, maybe yes, as if gtranslator would be ported to there, it would be perhaps also logical to transfer the msgid's to UTF-8 (also said in some other mails in this thread IIRC), not? Then we shouldn't have this current problem..
