Yeah, apparently new gnome-session versions want to show the logout
dialog via gnome-shell and have no fallback. Disabling the dialogs may
help you:

gsettings set org.gnome.SessionManager logout-prompt false

You may also want to file a bug against gnome-session asking them to
force the requested action if the dialog is not available.
