Brno Doc Sprint, how to get there



Hi,

Getting to Brno is quite a simple affair. Whether you come trough Vienna or Prague, the easiest connection is probably the bus service operated by StudentAgency. If you prefer the comfort of the railway, trains from both cities leave every hour. Below are some details which we hope are useful to you.

* Vienna
Getting from Vienna to Brno is not too difficult, but to be on the safe side we will have somebody at the airport in Vienna on Thursday to help you get on he right bus or catch the train.

- Buses:
The easiest and fastest way to get to Brno is probably by bus. StudentAgency operates a bus service between Vienna Airport and Brno: One way will cost you around 16 USD or 12 EUR. Make sure to reserve return tickets a few days ahead. For reservations and schedules see:

- Trains:
The best way to get from the airport to the centre in Vienna is the S-Bahn 7 (city railway), which takes about 25 minutes and costs around 4 EUR. The more expensive CAT line uses the same route, but takes takes 6 minutes less and costs around 12 EUR.

Trains between Vienna Main Train Station and Brno Main Train Station leave every hour and costs around 19 EUR. You can buy tickets at the train station or book online:

* Prague
- From the airport to the main train station (Hlavni nadrazi):
When traveling through Prague, the easiest way is the shuttle bus (AE) from the airport to the main train station (Hlavni nadrazi) every 30 minutes. It costs around 2 EUR or 50 Czk. For details, see: http://czech-transport.com/index.php?id=357


- Buses:
Again, the fastest way to get to Brno is probably by bus.
If you want to take the bus to Brno, simply take the shuttle bus to the main train station and hop onto the underground (short time ticket 0,80 EUR) in direction of Kobylisy. Get off the next stop at Florenc. When leaving the rear stairs (the ones without escalators), the exit to the bus station is the first on the right side.

StudentAgency operates a bus service which leaves every 1/2 hour and takes 2 1/2 hours. One way will cost you around 8 EUR or 200 Czk. Make sure to reserve return tickets a few days ahead. For reservations and schedules see:

- Trains:
The Airport bus drops you off in front of the train station. Trains leave every hour and take a little less than 3 hours. Tickets are sold at the counter and cost between 9 and 13 EUR or 250 and 333 Czk depending on the route.

* Brno:
- At the airport
The City of Brno operates a bus service Between the Airport Brno-Turany and the city centre. The bus #76 leaves every 30 minutes. Tickets cost around 1.20 EUR or 30 Czk and are valid for the complete trip to your hotel.
Petr Kovar has offered to be at the airport to help you get on the bus.

- At the bus station
We should be able to have somebody meet you at the bus station and help get the right tram to your hotel, at least on Thursday.

- At the train station
We should be able to have somebody meet you at the bus station and help get the right tram to your hotel , at least on Thursday.
