Is the wiki to replace user-guide.xml ?

Here is a selection of files I would be susceptible to start work on :
glossary.xml, goscustaccess.xml, goscustdesk.xml, gosdeskback.xml,
goseditmainmenu.xml, gosmetacity.xml. Can I "claim" them so that I don't
end up duplicating work someone else is doing ?

I'm sure, but I've been "contributing" for less than 48h, so I'm not all
that frustrated yet ;-)

Here's a little background. I've been an (almost 100%) FOSS user for
over a year now, I've taken my time to learn all the things that used to
seem complicated under GNU/Linux (I used to be a Delphi / C developer
under Windo). After starting out with Mandrake I just could not see
myself going back, however I soon got RPM rage. I then adopted Gentoo,
and I find this just great, apart from the default GNOME desktop still
being 2.10.

I was always interested in OSS software for the liberty the license gave
you, however I have never had the opportunity to work with free
software. I no longer have a day job in IT, so I am much more free to
use what software I please. I've been learning Python and GTK+ among
other things.

Since I started with FOSS my goal has been to contribute back to the
community. Now I think that even if I can't yet churn out apps or
exterminate entire populations of bugs, at least I can understand a bit
of what people are talking about :-)

So, it's time for me to start helping free (libre) software advance in
the little ways I can. Documentation didn't seem too challenging, plus I
was horrified when I noticed much GNOME documentation was not translated
into French (I have enough trouble getting people around me interested
in free software (I live in France)). I thought I'd have a whack, and
see if any good could come out of it.

Now that's fine, but I don't actually know what I'm doing ! Can I really
just update / correct / modify pieces of software and post patches for
these changes in bugzilla ? Are there no further formalities ?

Beware, I messed up my first bugzilla attachment and didn't notice till
the next day, I posted a fixed version later.

I noticed someone mentioning dogtail to automate screenshots. I was
thinking about this the other day when I realized how many screenshots
are involved for all the languages. It seems like a good idea to me,
I'll look into it, as I have some experience in Python.

Should there not be more screenshots in the docs ? From the GNOME
Handbook of Writing Software Documentation I understand there should be
a screenshot for each window described.
