You are right in concluding that the task of making the man pages generic is the most
time-consuming. Per page, it isn't so much work, but the number of man pages makes
the task somewhat sizable. Your idea that this would be a good job for someone
starting out with GNOME documentation is a good one. There would be some good
learning opportunities, for example the man pages cover most core applications so it
would be a chance for someone to gain basic familiarity across the desktop. Also,
there would be hands-on experience in working with xml. Plus there's the satisfaction
of making the community desktop more complete.
That's the sales pitch - any takers?
