Re: Run Windows XP partition from gnome-boxes

Hi Nelson,

As Alberto said Windows XP doesn't like that the hardware changes,
anyway I followed this guide [1] some time ago to migrate a Windows XP
to a VirtualBox VM. I guess that you can give a try following the same
steps without the installation of vbox utils.

Hello Nelson,

You can't do that with boxes alone, there are ways to assign a physical
partition to a VM using another tool called virt-manager, however your
Windows partition will not just work like that, Windows XP does not like if
you change the hardware setup and it will fail to boot properly if you
launch it from a VM. I would recommend you install Windows XP from scratch
inside Boxes.

Hi all, this is a newbie question, I have my laptop with dual boot,
Windows XP in one partition and Fedora 21 in another one, I'm 75% of my time
in Fedora but from time to time I need to do some thing in Windows XP.

I would like to know if it's possible to run the Windows XP from
gnome-boxes so I don't have to leave Fedora and boot again.. I tried it but
couldn't find the option for that.

Regards!
