GIMP already does that (look in lib\gimp\2.0\environ\default.env).

Don't run or have access to gimp under windoz so cannot comment, but:
if gimp sets the path, how do you have problems with the wrong dll's being
access before the proper ones???

Seems a "path" problem.....
