subject: gedit does not work
Using openSUSE11.0 + regular patches & updates.
gedit 2.22.1 default
Edit, Preferences, ...missing tab: Syntax Highlighting,
Fonts & Colors cannot be selected,
background and text colors cannot be set.
---------------------
Colors
( ) Use default theme colors
Normal text color:

Selected text color:
Selection color:
---------------------
-->none of these buttons are active. Fonts & Colors cannot be selected.
sources: 2 DVDs from different publishers and downloaded *.iso
This bug is always repeatable.
Possible solution: upgrade to latest version: 2.24.1
(SUSE 11.0 not equiped to facilitate source code installation by default.
./ make make install does not work)
* At bugzilla see: #337035 & #567576

no answer so far.
* Unable to install gedit 2.12.0 which doesn't have this problem.
something is missing, not all widgets, files, daemons are installed by default. what is missing?
* With gedit 2.22.1, the Font & Color tab has a button [ + Add ]. I tried this and none were found. Where should a "color scheme" be found, and what ending would it have?? *.xpi for example.
* Applications, System, Configuration, GNOME configuration editor. Edit, Find: "gedit"
/apps/gedit-2/preferences/syntax_highlighting: enable [x] *still no syntax tab*
* gedit: Help, (?)Contents: Section 9.4 - Syntax Highlighting Preferences *not of this is visible*
* YaST, Software Management... only searches from the Internet. How do I direct it to a downloaded file or DVD?
* answer direct, if you like, to totem nighthawk se
