Just an update; I've got the system writing the syslog entries as
expected when a user logins in to gdm (had to add the session required
pam_session_hook.so line to /etc/pam.d/gdm-passwd) but still not
getting any notification of user logouts...
Using the /etc/gdm/{Pre|Post}Session scripts isn't working for me
either as they run as root (understandably) rather than the uid of the
user (both in real and effective terms).
I know I can use dbus but not got any experience of using dbus and
struggling to find a good dbus tutorial on using dubs & glib to access
methods of an object...
