Yes I deleted all the directories that was suggested. I tried
installing gnome-panel 2.10.0, but that too doesn't work. Can anyone
tell me the way to run the panel via gdb. I downloaded the
gnome-panel-debuginfo-2.2.0.1-7.i386.rpm package (i could not get one
for version 2.10.1).

So far I have built only freetype, xrender and xfe form bootstrap as
specified in the readme.
I'm working on trying to get the gnome-panel crash dump, maybe once I
have that, I can give more information.
