Compilation error in gnome-applets

Hi,
I installed garnome under my user: home/Marco: after various modeule compilation
I tried to compile the gnome-applets but received first this error:

./configure: config.log: Permission denied
make[1]: *** [configure-work/libgtop-2.0.0/configure] Error 1

I give the prompt the su command and the compilation continue but after
some lines the compilation stopped and obtain this error:

I compiled previously the pkg-config and it is good, but I see that under
the pkg-config there is another glib (it seems 1.2.18). But in another linux
on my disk I installed garnome under root and downloaded files from the
gnome site and never met this error. In fact now I am in another system
and try to compile package that I found on a cd magazine. I controlled the
packages and they are good (it seems).
What about this error in compilation?

P.S.: I use garnome-0.12.0 while in the other system I used garnome-0.13.1
