I think that this is a perfectly reasonable approach but I'm not sure
how to animate the shortening of the worm around the corner piece.
Perhaps a shader? Or maybe a scale applied on a non-orthogonal axis?
Be sure to include all the details in your proposal. It appears we
will have a lot of people fighting for spots this year so proposals
will need to be good to be selected.
