http://www.svenutcke.de/sw/Face/?inst#inst

now comes with greatly enhanced installation notes as well as a
slightly updated version which was tested to work with both Ubuntu
8.04 as well as Ubuntu 10.10, and therefore presumably will work with
all versions of Ubuntu in between too. Maybe you would like to give
this a try?

It does not yet work on SuSE 11.04 (opencv version 2.2, which uses a
new python interface), but I am working on it.
