The first number is the number of photos displayed in the thumbnail
view, the second one is the total number of pictures that are in f-spot.
Thus, if you search for a certain tag / import roll / timeframe and e.g.
12 photos are found, only these photos are the first number => 12 out of
1484. I guess you tagged one photo with "hidden", then it is not
displayed by default.
