Thanks Pete, that is v. useful. I can see that Ubuntu's latest is shipping Evolution 3.40 so Linux Mint can't be far behind that. I'll see if I can stick this one out until the next Mint upgrade. It doesn't really hurt yet that I can't use sync my contacts with Google. Probably part of the price of letting Google have all my contacts :( -----Original Message----- From: Pete Biggs <pete biggs org uk> To: evolution-list gnome org Subject: Re: [Evolution] Failed to access Google Contacts - Invalid request URI or header, or unsupported nonstandard parameter: Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2022 10:32:22 +0000Invalid request URI or header, or unsupported nonstandard parameter: Contacts API is being deprecated. Migrate to People API to retain programmatic access to Google Contacts. See https://developers.google.com/people/contacts-api-migration . I didn't see any messages on here. I'm using 3.36.5-0ubuntu1 from the latest Mint packages update.See the thread starting at: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/2021-November/msg00155.htmlIs Linux Mint just behind the curve on rolling out Evolution upgradesYes. More recent versions of Evolution uses CardDav and not the Contacts API. It's not perfect, but you don't get the warnings. Depending on your distro you might be able to get a more recent version by upgrading, but it is likely you will be pointed towards the Flatpak version. Using those versions come with caveats, but my impression is that they are improving. (Not that I use them, my distro keeps up to date with such things.) P.
Ran into this as well. Using Kubuntu 20.04 currently, which is based on vanilla Ubuntu 20.04. FWIW, and if I understood it correctly, according to https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jammy/armhf/evolution-ews, the Evolution Mail-ews 3.42 package is proposed to be included with the upcoming Ubuntu 22.04, which in turn suggests the entire Evolution Mail package 3.42 will be included. Further, according to https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/2021-November/msg00156.html, with Evolution data server 3.42, it's suggested the warning shouldn't show anymore, if a workaround is done. Did I understand this correctly? About those caveats, could you expand a bit on that? Are there gotchas' one should be aware of with flatpaks in general or just with the Evolution Mail flatpaks? -- Sorin Srbu, Serverdrift Tele: 08-524 84166 Karolinska Institutet Universitetsbibliotek Avdelningen för Verksamhetsstöd Enheten för Teknikstöd och Bildproduktion # They say you can't buy happiness, but you can buy a # motorcycle, and that's pretty damn close!
