Please provide steps what kind of "search results" this is about.
Virtual search folders? Using the search bar not in the "current
folder"? Running an Advanced Search from the main menu? Something
else?
In the search bar select "Message contains" and "All accounts", type
in a word, press enter.
As I said, the default for search results for anything that isn't just
the "Current Folder" is to have that column displayed.
If your column layout is being used in all folders when you don't want
it to be, then make sure "Edit->Preferences->Mail Preferences->General-
Apply same view settings to all folders" is disabled.
