So you've been using Evolution for 15 years, been getting peeved with
the built-in editor all that time, and never explored the External
Editor plugin?

One thing I've learned over the years of using many different types of
OS's, but mainly *nix, is that the open source community, in general,
wants you to use the correct tools for you. If that means using Windows
or MacOS or iOS or whatever, then do so. False rivalries and
threatening to jump ship to a different app or OS is pointless. If you
can find a different mail app or a different platform that suits your
needs better, then go for it.
