In which case, a better structure would have been:
Well, multipart/alternative has a meaning of "here you have set of
parts where each of them represents the same information in different
form and you can choose whichever one you are able to show", where they
are also supposed to be in an order from poorest format to richest
format (but some clients did break that rule as well in the past).
Having real attachments (not inline images of text/html) under
multipart/mixed as one of the subparts of multipart/alternative kind of
contradicts the intention of the mutlipart/alternative, from my point
of view.
