You may want to file a bug in Ubuntu's bugtracker if there is a
regression recently introduced in Ubuntu's packages.

I don't know how up-to-date Ubuntu documentation is, but
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash or
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace might be relevant.
Basically you'll need to get a stacktrace/backtrace with debug symbols
installed to allow others to see where things go wrong.
