My biggest bug-bear with evolution is that I needlessly see my own name

It would be really nice to have one column which indicates `from' if it
is a message I received, or `to' if it is a message I sent.
That only makes sense if you have both sent and received messages in
the same folder, so you might want to elaborate on your setup.
Ah, right. I have my INBOX configured as my ``sent messages''
folder, as this both pushes the messages to the IMAP server and keeps
them together with messages to which they are replying. I find that the
best way to use Evolution, and it also works nicely with other readers,
e.g. on Android 'phones. It does mean that I have sent and received
messages in this one place though.

That is an interesting link, thank you.
Is there any configuration which would accomplish this, or are there any
plans to bring such a feature in in future?
There are not. Feature requests can be filed in bugzilla.gnome.org.
Barring some good advice for an alternative set-up here, I'll file a
request in due course.
