Re: [Evolution] Upgrade Evolution outside of Ubuntu mechanism

I have Lubuntu 14.04, and I use Evolution.

Have you thought about using a different distribution other than Ubuntu?

It's a serious question and not meant to be the prompt for a long
discussion on distros, but if your current one is not providing you with
what you need, then there are plenty more out there.

If you want to stick with Lubuntu, then you may be better of looking for
a PPA to use rather than trying to compile it yourself. I know very
little about the Ubuntu arena but I'm sure someone out there will
already have done the work for you.

Finally, there are some pages out there giving you hints on how to build
Evo from source. Paul Smith has a page here

http://mad-scientist.net/welcome-to-the-lab/gnome-evolution-from-source/

but I think it hasn't been updated for a while, so may well be out of
date.

But be aware that building a Gnome app like Evolution requires a lot of
libraries - if you are building a version different to your currently
installed Gnome version then you will probably have to do more than just
compile Evolution and its components.
