Oh my!!  I just used Web Mail and see that my ISP has been purging the
emails, but they are going to try to get them back.

As I said, "purging" as in expunging deleted emails, or "purging" as in
arbitrarily removing emails older than a certain date?  (If the latter,
get a new mail provider!)

They are removing e-mails older than about 3 months. Call it what you
want. Getting a new isp is not as easy as it looks because the
alternative is time-warner.

And I presume this action by your ISP is co-incidental with your change
of Evolution version? i.e. it's not actually an Evolution issue per se?

Correct.

I was always under the impression that the full email was downloaded to
my computer, but it looks like that is not the case currently.  So I
could benefit from some education on what is really happening, and how
to make sure I have the e-mails like I used to have.  Perhaps this is a
setting in Evolution - I don't know at this point because I'm not sure
what to look for.  Your help is appreciated.

Evolution can download messages for "off-line access", but it's
certainly not a "make a copy on my computer so I know they are safe"
sort of thing.  The whole premise of IMAP is that messages are kept on
the server rather than the local computer since servers are generally
more secure, better maintained, backed up, and so on.

Am I correct in thinking POP did download the messages for local
storage?
