I think you misunderstood what I was getting at. I mentioned Gmail
simply as an example of an email provider that supports IMAP (as long as
you configure it according to Gmail's recommendations). I do *not* mean
you can drag and drop between Evo and a browser window pointed at Gmail.
Once you configure your Gmail account for IMAP (using Gmail's web
interface), you then set it up in Evo as an IMAP account and then move
your mail across.

1. I have enabled IMAP in my gmail account. All that was involved there
was going into "settings" and selecting "enable IMAP". I am guessing
this is what is meant by "configure your Gmail account for IMAP", right?

Yes.

2. You have then instructed to "set it up in Evo as an IMAP account". I
see in the account settings of evo, under "receiving mail", one can
change it from POP to IMAP. The full settings which I found in the gmail
help pages are below, at the *. Please confirm this is what is needed.

As long as you followed the settings exactly, that should be fine.

3. You have instructed-- "then move your mail across"-- "move your mail
from the old Evo into an IMAP account (using drag and drop or ImapSync)"

I went to the ImapSync website, but it looks like one has to purchase
that for 50 Euros.

I hadn't noticed the new charge on that site. Try this one:

https://fedorahosted.org/imapsync/

So I thought I would try the drag and drop. But I
still don't understand where in the gmail account I am supposed to drag
the mail to. You already instructed that it is not the actual gmail
account itself.

I don't understand what you think I said about "the actual Gmail
account". Please point out the part that you find confusing.

Please let me know exactly where using the drag and
drop, I am to place all the mail folders.

Wherever you like. Create a new folder ("label" in Gmail terminology)
and just put it there. Refresh folder subscriptions in Evo so it will
see the new folder with your mail in it.
