There are actually special headers in every reply message which can be
used to track threads of email. When you reply to a message, the
previous values are kept and a new value is added. For modern mail
clients that track mail threads using these headers, replying to a
message will always put that message into the thread of the original.
Just taking out the Re: won't fix this.
You should never reply to an existing message unless you're trying to
add information to that thread. If you want to start a brand new
thread, then you can right-click on the email address, then choose "Send
new message to" instead.
Or just left-click on the address and get a new message composer window
directly.
