Folks,

here's what I did:

1) configured the debug options, according to the email. Closed Evolution (After that, I also run evolution --force-shutdown, to make sure all modules would be reloaded when I started it again);

2) Started Evolution;

3) Created a test message to myself, using a rule to change the subject color and to move to a private folder (in my computer, not on Exchange Server). Nothing happened, and and teh log file was untouched.

4) Selected the message and pressed Ctrl-Y. The message was then moved to the folder and had the subject changed to blue. Checked the log file again and now it recorded messages about applying filters, changing color and moving the message,

5) Checked "Edit-> Preferences-> Mail Accounts-> Reception Options" (or something like that, since I using Portuguese translation), to see if the "Apply filters to new messages..." option was checked. It was.

6) Tested with another rule, and it didn't work, even selecting the message and pressing Ctrl-Y. Deleted all the rules and recreated them. It started to work just like Step 4.

7) Tested the rule with an old message (already opened) and it worked the same way as Step 4, that is, pressing Ctrl-Y while selecting the message.

With Ubuntu 7.04 and Evo 2.10 (and Exchange) it wasn't necessary to select the message(s).

The annoying thing is that it doesn't generate any (error) messages until I select a message and press Ctrl-Y.

Any Ideas?

I routinely log filter activity (which is why I know my junk filtering
isn't working -- it isn't even being called). The trick is from Jeffrey
Steadfast nearly two years ago (search the list archives if want the URL):

I can verify that this works and has proved extremely useful. Just go
into gconf-editor and set it up. It still isn't available through the UI
though, which is absurd.
