Hello, I have been a user of Evolution for about a year now, and recently, my husband upgraded me to the 2.1.0 version.
urrr... bad. evolution 2.0.x is the stable end-user version, evolution 2.1.x is an unstable developer version. 2.1.0 is about four months old and was the first development version of the 2.1 cycle. development code changes *rapidly*, so you should upgrade to the latest development version (2.1.6 at the moment) or go back to 2.0.4 (the latest stable version) or you wait for stable 2.2.0 which will be out in a week. :-)
First, let me state that I am NOT a programmer, I'm only a user.
if you just want to *use* evolution you shouldn't use 2.1 but 2.0 or 2.2 (when it's out). but if you like to live on the edge and help the programmers, 2.1 is okay. :-)
If I'm on the wrong type of list, please let me know and I'll go away; I don't want to needlessly bother any of you.
nope, you're right here.
Is this the place that I can make some suggestions for changes to the functionality of some of the screens?
either on this list or file a bug on http://bugzilla.ximian.com (after searching if it has been filed already).
For instance, in the calendar, when I'm making a new appointment, it defaults to 'birthdays' and. I ALWAYS have to change it to 'personal' so that I can set the day, time, summary, etc. I can't find within the settings screen where I can set the default for that.
the default calendar is always the highlighted calendar on the left pane. please upgrade to a current version to see if this stills exists (i presume it does not anymore ;-).
Also, when I'm sending an email, the signature defaults to 'autogenerated', and I have to click on it and select it to 'none' because I don't want a signature on my emails.
go to "mail accounts" within the "tools | settings" or "edit | preferences" dialog (name and location changed during the development cycle, that's why i name both), choose the account you're talking about and click "edit", go to tab "identity" and change "signature" to "none". cheers, andre -- mailto:ak-47 gmx net | failed! http://www.iomc.de
