Re: [Evolution] 2004.11.22: Port My Email to New evolution.

I just went through this. On a "clean" install of Fedora Core 3 and
evolution you need to follow the FAQ to force migration. This works out
well.

Uhm, no -- you should not need that FAQ.

Just make sure to copy back your data and settings after the "clean"
install and /before/ running Evolution (any app) the first time. With a
fresh and clean $HOME you sure do not get any of your old settings.

Evolution will migrate your data, when running for the first time and
detecting old data. There is no point in migrating automatically, if it
isn't running for the first time. Well, this applies to all apps, it's
not Evo specific...

A fix may be to have the new version 2.0.x look for the old files in
evolution and automagically import them?????

It does. If you have your old Evo configuration around.

I copied only the evolution directory when moving the files and was not
aware that I needed to copy the .gconf dir as well.

Yeah, missing this dir is the most common issue when moving to another
system. GConf is where all you're Evo settings are stored.
