FWIW this is also related to your window manager (although afaik it
is/was because of bugs in gtk and/or bonobo and/or evo). I've basically
never really seen this issue, even when we had it big-time in earlier
versions.

Hi Jeffrey. I appreciate your attention on this matter. It's been a
PIMA for a long time. :-)
you might try taking a look at what patches we ship with our gtk2
source rpms - perhaps we fixed a focus issue or 2 in gtk that your OS
vendor has not added to their rpms?
(actually, I *know* we have fixed gtk2 focus issues... just not sure
if any affected the auto-completion stuff)
OK. Took a bite. Downloaded:
ftp://ftp.ximian.com/pub/xd2/redhat-9-i386/source/gtk2-2.2.4-0.ximian.6.2.src.rpm
The following patches are added:
Patch0: gtk+-xftprefs.patch
Patch1: gtk+-mac_ctree.patch
Patch2: gtk2-filesel-navbuttons.patch
Patch3: gtk+-2.0.6-exportsymbols.patch
Patch4: gtk+-2.0.6-themename.patch
Patch5: gtk2-center-gtkseparatormenuitems.patch
Patch6: gtk2-de.po.patch
to the source:
Source0: gtk+-2.2.4.tar.bz2
I perused the patches, but nothing looked relevant to focus. Did I miss
something?
