well i do dev on redhat 9, don't see this behaviour.  I have some
folders with >40 000 messages in them, although those aren't indexed.

Anyway i just noticed your problem isn't anything to do with the subject
or original thread of this message.

It just looks like a crash in the calendar!  Submit a bug report :)
