Re: [Evolution] Evo 1.4.5 + Evo 1.5

I would like to give a try to Evo Dev Snapshot 1.5.1. It has been said
that "it can be installed with evo1.4.5". They are not using the same
directory (evolution and .evolution). As I just want to try, and not to
put it in production, it seems that this is quite safe to do it.

Be aware, that 1.5 uses its own directory and therefore does *NOT* share
the data. This means, if you are retrieving new mails or editing your
Contacts, this will *not* affect your 1.4.x data in any way. However,
changes to the settings *will*.

But ...

Using red-carpet2, installing 1.5 requires the deletion of :
bonobo-activation 2.2.0.4
bonobo-activation-devel 2.2.0.4
linc-devel 1.0.1.1

Ouch ... don't I need this one for evo1.4.5 ??... or for other programs.
Trying to remove then via Synaptic ... would remove half of my computer
stuff!

Nope, you don't need them, as they are replaced by other packages
providing the same, IIRC. (Note: The devel packages are not necessary
for running applications, only for buildung and probably running some
snapshots.)

FWIW: I already had some 1.5 versions installed and tested parallel to
1.4.5. No problems, beside the manual installation.

So can we or not give a try to evo 1.5.1 using evo 1.4.5 in prod ?

Yep. :)
