authenticated fine using 1.4.6-2 on debian...just make sure you select 
"never" for using TLS...


1.4.5 on RedHat RHEL3 (o.k., with self-compiled Openldap 2.2.11), but I
have "always" for TLS and it works perfectly. Earlier versions didn't,
though.
