You know, Stephen and I were talking about _beta_ versions 1.3.x, do
you?
The previous comment says "Well, use Evo 1.2.4 then.."
I run stock Mandrake9.1
and evolution 1.2.4 mdk and its so slow its painful. I have just
replaced (not upgraded) Mandrake9.0 and evolution 1.0.8 which was
acceptable. But now there is around 4 seconds delay when clicking on
"forward" or "reply".
I just waited about 1 sec for this window to come up (Evo 1.3.3) on a
Mandrake 9.1 system.
just found out...if I click reply on any email and leave it sit there...
all other "replies" happen within a second as they should.
While I type this I'm frequently ahead of the cursor, then the text
"appears". Applications like Openoffice work perfectly so I can't see my
just type up a letter in Openoffice while 5 browsers, evolution, other
progs are running. My box has plenty of guts but even with ONLY
evolution running...evolution runs like a slow old dog.
P4 1.6gig, 512ram box being too slow or overtaxed. Not much else is
running. Makes no difference whether i'm in Kde or Gnome.
My point is, Evo feels slower, redrawing the GUI takes time. I cannot
verify what you discover. PIII 800, 256 MB RAM on this machine.
Autocomplete doesn't work like it did in 1.0.8.
Well known and discussed often, when 1.2 came out: Since Evo 1.2 the
autocompletion has changed to require at least 3 chars.
autocomplete doesen't work at all here.
I also tried replacing the "mdk" Evolution with ximian rpms etc, but its
no better. Going back to 1.0.8 looks like a deal of trouble, i'll have
to use old gtkhtml etc or maybe recompile it from src...dunno yet. But
sorting through 100+ emails like this is misery.
Again, I cannot reproduce this...
If Evolution 1.2.4 is working ok for you..
Does anyone else running Mandrake9.1 have problems with slowness or is
it my problem alone??
