If Evolution 1.2.4 is working ok for you..
Does anyone else running Mandrake9.1 have problems with slowness or is
it my problem alone??
I DID have some probs AT FIRST (now using 1.3.3) but it was a matter of
chasing up the correct library dependencies and updating/upgrading some
bits'n'bobs...as well as making sure that my font settings were "happy"
between Gnome2 and KDE...and after cleaning up a fair hunka junk prior
to running Evo, it appears to be happy.
Here's a few bits of what I did (that I SHOULD have done long time ago):
* Made some corrections to my /etc/ld.so.conf (my example):
/usr/lib
/usr/local/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/lib/qt3/lib
/usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.0.0/post
/usr/lib/wine
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.3
/usr/local/netscape
/usr/lib/evolution/1.3
/usr/lib/kde3
/usr/java/lib
* used hdparm to tweak my drive settings and make the changes permanet
by editing the /etc/sysconfig/harddisks file
* Made sure I put the /usr/lib/evolution/1.3 directory in my system path
* Blow out everything in the /tmp/orbit-usernamegoeshere/ directory and
also delete any /tmp/evolution* directories
* Installed the libgnomecanvas2_0-2.2.0.1-1mdk.i586.rpm
* Installed gtk+2.0-2.2.1-5mdk.i586.rpm
* Tarred/Gzipped my ~/home/username/evolution directory, deleted it,
then untarred/ungzipped it back (almost like doing a defrag of that
directory structure)
And voila!
Not that it runs at light speed, but works well enough!
HTH!
