Do you have an HTTP proxy configured, and if so, is it configured
correctly? (Check in the control center, or with gconf-editor.)

After you try to load images, does "netstat --inet" show open or
recently-closed connections to the relevant HTTP servers?

http_proxy it was. I don't recall every having configured this, but
"use http proxy" was checked, with absolutely no information filled in
for it. I changed it to "direct connection to internet" and VOILA,
baybee!! =:)

Dan, if you're ever in PA, I owe you a milkshake or something!! =:)
