If course this can be taken reliably. The time in the mail i'm replying to is stored locally from the sendes point of view with the modifyer (for me right now 11:55 +0200) so that would not be the problem. On the other side the time seen from the repliers point is what you get right now. Adding the local timezone settings of the replier in textform (Europe/Stockholm etc.). So yes. It can be done as reliably as you choose to, depending on the repliers setup.
