FWIW, I set up an IMAP server on a Linux machine, and told Outlook about
it. I then dragged all my messages from my Outlook folders to the IMAP
server. You could do just the same with any IMAP mail client (OE, Moz,
Eudora, etc.) I left them there, but you could just do the exact same in
reverse to copy the messages from the IMAP server to Evolution's local
folders. Tell Evolution about the server and drag the messages to where
you want them.

Setting up the server was dead easy on Mandrake 9,1 - just install it
from packages, set up the local mail store (using maildirmake++, in my
case) and it works. It did take me some time to realise that you need to
use an IMAP implementation that is compatible with the Maildir mail
format if you have nested mail folders. Courier IMAPD does the job.

HTH (with the messages, but not the contacts)
