If you just say:

HOME=/some/other/place evolution

with no semi-colon, it should just change the value of HOME for that
invocation of evolution and leave everything else unaffected.


Its not really as simple as that.

oafd's environment will be inherited by corba servers it starts.  And
oafd will normally already be running (e.g. from nautilus).  This will
affect wombat, evolution-mail, evolution-addressbook, etc.
